Privacy policy

Draft. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet. It describes how Caseback is designed to work and will be finalized before launch.

Caseback keeps a history for each watch: its ownership, service, and theft checks. This policy explains what we collect to do that, what others can see, and what happens when you leave.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, a username, and anything you add to your profile, such as a photo, short bio, or general region.
  • Watch records: the reference, year, serial number, photos, box and papers, condition notes, purchase details, and service records you add, plus records that watchmakers add for jobs on your watch.
  • Posts and activity: wrist checks, comments, likes, follows, and your private wear log.
  • Device information: push notification tokens and basic technical data needed to keep the service running and secure.

We sign you in with passkeys or one-time email codes. We never ask for or store a password.

How we protect sensitive details

  • Serial numbers: we store a one-way protected version of the full serial and the last four digits. We only ever display the last four digits.
  • Prices and values: private unless you choose to show them.
  • Photo location data: removed from photos when you upload them.
  • Previous owners: shown only as numbered, anonymous owners with dates.

AI processing

When you ask Caseback to read a photo of a watch or a receipt, or to write a backstory, we send that photo or the watch's records to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce a draft. You review every draft before it is saved. We don't use AI to judge whether a watch is genuine.

Who can see what

You choose whether your collection is public or private, and you can set visibility per watch. Watchmakers see the details of the jobs you bring them. Anyone you send a history report link to sees what that report includes.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run Caseback, including for sign-in, hosting, databases, file storage, email, push notifications, and AI processing. They handle data only to provide their service to us.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from the app's settings. We remove your personal data: your profile, posts, comments, follows, and private purchase details. The watch's service and ownership history stays with the watch so future owners can rely on it, with your name and contact details removed.
